The Idiot's Lantern

So. Here I am, the summer after my first year of high school (yay!) and I have literally nothing to do. Okay, I make occasional trips to my kitchen, but other than that, I've beaten like, five of my video games and watched Pitch Perfect about ten times. Not to mention all the Disney movies. So I decided that for Halloween or this school thing we call Character Day, I am going to be Rose Tyler from The Idiot's Lantern (Season 2 of Doctor Who). You know, the big, fluffy, pink 1950's dress? Like this:
I've been in love with this outfit since I laid eyes on it. Slight problem: It's a one of a kind dress, meaning I'd have to make it. Also, I'm not blonde like Rose, but that's not a big deal. The jacket is also a pretty big-name brand jacket hovering around $120. If I had that kind of money, I'd be in Costa Rica. Not sitting in my living room crying over the Doctor's broken hearts (coughcoughDoomsdaycough). I did find a really good imitation on eBay, though. And it's kinda-sorta almost cheap! Here it is:

The wig's up in the air right now. But other than that, I just need to sew the dress (I'm thinking a simple circle skirt and a sequined tube top) and accessorize, which shouldn't be too hard. The shoes are the important part. They happen to be shoes that hover around the $200 dollar mark, and like I said, I can't do that. So some nice, plain, pink shoes that look vaguely like this should do.

So, yeah. Better get to work on this if I want to wear it for Halloween. If you need me, you'll probably find me desperately searching for fabric at Joann's.

Ciao! And of course, Geronimo!

Wouldn't Ya Know?

Here I am, blogging. Again. With my third blog because I still can't figure out how to delete my first two blogs. Stupid Google. Anyway, so I went back to my last blog post, written in August, and the very first thing it said was, "What do I know about that I can blog about?" Of course, that little 13 year old me had no idea what she was really going to know about by this time. My other blog was about boys, fashion and drama. This one is about the girl I have become.

Yes, the curse falls upon most of us. Only those very lucky few with infinite willpower escape the black hole we call becoming a fangirl. I certainly didn't escape, nor did I really want to. The first episode of Doctor Who I watched was Doomsday, and even though I had absolutely no idea what was going on, I still cried like the Doctor when the Master died (oops, Spoilers) Speaking of which, there will be spoilers, so if you really dislike those, this isn't the blog for you, so... go away.

And don't even get me started on Sherlock. I put it off for as long as I could; I really did not need another obsession, especially a TV show written by Steven Moffat. I mean, was I suicidal? (No, but Sherlock was ;) ) No. Okay. That was not okay. I'm sorry, I'm a terrible person. Feel free to trap me in a mirror or something. Now I've seen all 3 seasons (yes, all three. No, season 3 is not on Netflix) and I'm more obsessed than I was with Doctor Who. Knowing you have to wait til 2016 til the next season tends to do that to you.

Anyway, I have to go waste my energy on a research paper, so au revoir, but look forward to some funny pics, links to amazing videos, and super-secret-special-sparkly-spoilers.

Love you all!

Geronimo,

Sara
